This week I wanted to put a receipt in my drawer but it was piling with letters and receipts and what not. So I started looking through the stuff which can be discarded (or shredded if there is too personal info on it). To my surprise I found a letter of our Telecoms authorities with information for the morse-code exam!

This is dated 1995, when morse-code proficiency was still required for HF. I studied hard, using the Swiss-made Morsix MT-7 trainer and even wrote a training program for my Acorn Archimedes in Basic, but I had difficulties in mastering the code. So I didn’t go to the exam, and since my appetite for amateur-radio wasn’t that big anymore at that time, I didn’t regret it.
Years later, 2022, I took the exam in Belgium and passed it with flying colours.
